sound of the sea has been serving up some of the best of cleveland-based original folk/rock/nightmusic since 1991, with over thirty releases.
alan grandy (the label’s patriarch) has written, performed and recorded music with the high season, sputnik, admiral, jehova waitresses, the terrible parade and as a solo artist that has been called “a must listen” (alternative press), a “jackpot pick” (cmj new music report), “a nice sensation” (melody maker) “harmonic, hook-laden, and easy on the ear in the best sense” (billboard), “sweetly thoughtful” (seattle weekly), “gorgeously drifting” (all music guide) and “out of this world” (cleveland plain dealer). His music has also found its way into college/community radio regular rotation in five different decades (’80s through “20s).
